In 1830, Charles Tanqueray established the distillery in the Bloomsbury district of Tingrith in Bedfordshire. When Charles died in 1868, the company passed into the hands of his heir, Charles Waugh Tanqueray. An air raid in 1941, during World War II, left the distillery in shambles; only one still survived the attack. This still, known as “Old Tom,” now resides in Cameronbridge, Scotland and continues to be used today.

The gin is primarily produced in Scotland and exported to its major market, the US. It is a London Dry Gin, so called because of the distillation process, not the origin of the product.

So what makes the Tanqueray different from all the others? Tanqueray is distilled four times and uses only 4 botanicals – juniper, coriander, angelica and liquorice. Very subtle yet fresh aromas of grapefruit on the nose which leads to a great blend of juniper, vanilla and lime on the palate. Sightly sweet that creates a long lasting flavour and a hint of spice at the end.
